Ingredients are 2 1/2 cups of self-rising flour plus a cup of flour to put on the counter to roll out the biscuit dough to cut out with a biscuit cutter. Also, add in 2 tsp of baking powder for fluffier biscuits.
You need a greased pan for9 to 10 biscuits. Also, have 4 Tbsp. of lard out to put in the mix.
You need 1- 1/4thcup of milk with 2 Tbsp of lemon juice poured into it. This makes buttermilk. Set your oven to 450 degree pre-heated oven.
In a large bowl put flour and baking powder together and whisk. Put in the lard or (butter) if you wish. Then I use a pastry cutter and cut all together to make pea size crumbs. You can use a fork if you need to,
Add in the one and 1/4th cup of milk and stir lightly with a spoon to make a moist ball or close enough o one. Now put the extra flour on your counter and get out your rolling pin. Place dough in the middle of the flour and turn by hand a few times to make it into a smooth ball. Do not do this for too long or they will be tough! If the dough is too sticky then add another handful of flour.
Now use a rolling pin and just roll out to 1- inch thickness. Use a large cookie cutter or a glass to cut out biscuits and then work dough together again to be able to cut the last few biscuits out.
Bake 450 degrees for 20 minutes and then enjoy with butter or honey or cane syrup-chicken and rice, etc.#CONNIEBRECIPESWISDOMFORPENNIES
