Homemade Yogurt

Good morning to everyone on this last day of October 2020. I hope that you are doing well today and have a really good day. I am enjoying some very nice and cool weather for this North Florida day.

I will have to post the photo, next month, when I make up some of this awesome yogurt for myself, again. This yogurt is thick, but not as thick as what you buy that is already made. So the texture is smooth but a little more drippy than the store bought type, and I do not want to add any thickner’s to it as I want it natural.

When you have finished making this yogurt and stored it in multiple bowls, then the combinations are endless for your own choice of flavors. I end up with 4 Betty Crocker plastic, square bowls that are half filled with yogurt and that’s a lot of yogurt! This will also last for a month in the refrigerator.

You could make banana yogurt or apples and cinnamon or strawberry or peach or blueberry or raspberry, just use your imagination!

The recipe is—-one 8 oz container of plain yogurt (must say acciladolphus) active cultures on it.

1/2 gallon of whole milk

2c. powdered milk

Farenhight themometer

Heating Pad

Start this recipe by putting the yogurt into an ice-tray the day before. When froze then put this in a ziplock baggie for your culture for this time and ten more yogurt adventures also. Thaw out 2 cubes when you start to make this recipe.

In a large heavy duty pot, pour in the half a gallon of whole milk and the 2 cups of powdered milk. Using a whisk to stir this the whole time that you are making this recipe. You do not want it to burn. Use medium heat.

Use your themometer to see that it gets up to 180-190 F. Then take off heat and cool down to 100-110 F and then add in the thawed 2 yogurt cubes and stir.

Set up your hot pad on top of a cutting board and turn to medium heat. Put the pot that is covered with a lid on it, on the hot pad and leave for 8 hours, or overnight, is my choice. Stir once in a while to make sure that it is not burning. When finished, you will have something amazing to add sugar and fruit to create your flavors. You could toss granola on top, when ready to eat. You can also leave it plain for sour-cream or use some in baking or cooking.

I do hope that you will try this! I have made this for many years and need to get back into it, which I plan to do just that.

Thank you for your visit and feel free to check out my monthly archives of recipes and things, while you are here. Please share my blog with others.Thank you again Connie B.

Mango Ice Cream

Wow is all I can say!

Here is my recipe that I have been promising you from last week. All I can say is WOW! It is to die for!

Recipe Ingredients are: 3 mangos peeled and scraped from the seed.

1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk. 2 tsp. lemon juice pinch of salt

Put this in a food proccessor or a blender or even a mixing bowl. And mix until smooth. Then put in a freezer container with a closed lid and freeze for a day.

Now you do have to take this out and let it set out on the counter for 30 minutes before you can scoop it out, all nice and pretty like! Next time I may reblend it after it has been froze for a day, to see if it is more scoopable. Love too all. https://www.wisdomforpennies.com

PS That,s my little baby food processor in the photo so I did this in two batches. Anything works so it,s your turn now.

July 2020 Preppers

Make your own absorbers

This is for the preppers out there. You know who you are, the ones that believe in storing food. I believe even 10 years would do for the times that we are in today! I have decided that I am not happy with this procedure using steel wool so I am making changes to use the cat litter ,absorbent crystals, method instead.

You use the new type of unscented, mini crystals. These absorb all moisture and has no smell. I just use an envelope and put 6 tbsp. in it, Then I seal the envelope and fill a food-grade bucket with wheat berries and then place on the top of the berries and seal the bucket.

I did try an experiment that used a small amount of crystals in a cup. I then poured a small amount of water over the crystals and it dried up all the water. I did this twice and had the same result. Then I added three times the water to the same mix and it took some days, but I had the same good result. No water.

For a baggie of food just use paper to make a tiny envelope and put 1 tbsp. of the cat litter in it and staple, it shut. I learned this off of the internet as I was searching, so, no I have not lost my mind. On the steel wool idea, I felt that shaving might have worked their way into the stored food. So I changed this. I am so very sorry to have misled anyone.

And you want to make sure that it stays safe and editable after all that food prepping work that you had to go through and after spending a lot of money on your supplies, you could use a price break.

Well, here it is! You already know that you could be using mylar bags or not and then you still need the oxygen absorbers to put in each bag or bucket and they can cost a pretty penny.

On the mylar bags, the 5 -gallon ones look pretty nice for big families and the 2-gallon ones look pretty nice for only myself as I am only one to be calling myself a prepper so I will use the 2-gallon bags. I have decided not to use the mylar bags as I have waited a long time for them to come in the mail and they sent me the 4×6 sized bags instead of the 2- gallon sized ones that I ordered. I have wasted enough time waiting already.

This is what they sent me! I guess I could stock bubble gum in them. Twenty of these useless, and too tiny little bags. Ugg. I am not happy.

I can just see getting 15 lbs of wheat berries in there and 25 lbs of dried corn also. So I will use my homemade absorbers and a hand-full of bay leaves also in each 5-gallon bucket that I make up.

I am sorry if you already knew this! I am trying to help the others that do not know.

I would be thankful for small donations to my site and they are very welcomed by me, and would help me to prep more If I have helped you, please consider helping me out with small things.

Thank you for visiting my page and please come back.

I am not a professional prepper or teacher on food storage, but I have canned-dehydrated-frozen-gardened and prepared foods from scratch, all of my life, and these things work for me. I did find the cat litter remedy on https://www.PREAPSTEADERS.com so I give this beautiful awesome lady the credit for this tip.

Brown Recluse Spider Bite

This is the brown recluse spider. This spider is very very harmful!
This spider does not play. You will hardly know you’ve been bitten until later on.

These photos are going to get ugly so if you have a week stomach then stop now!
At day one it might look like a target with 2 fang marks and then day 3 you may look this!

The poison they inject can eat a whole in your body as big as a large marble. I am not a Dr. I have seen this in waiting rooms at the Dr.s for years now. So I prefer to stop the flesh-eating poison on myself. I don,t know about you, but this works for me it is a simple remedy that I have used for years and it may not work for you, but it might.

I do not want to look like this and this is what a brown recluse, simple looking spider that you don’t even feel when you get bitten until much later, can do to you.
I am sorry that this is ugly but brown recluse spiders, might do this to you.

I have been bitten a few times and I did not know when I got the bite, but as my skin started changing and burning like acid, then I knew that I had to stop this poison from eating my flesh, fast, I have seen people that let it get to the worst photo on here. So I do not take this lightly! And with all the clinic closures and Dr.s not seeing everyone now due to Covid. You might try this and see if it works for you.

If you get the poison out then it cannot continue to be a flesh-eater. I use charcoal as my first treatment. If you don’t have the kind from the drug store, then go to your grilling supplies and get a piece of plain charcoal (not fast flame type). The fast light has chemicals in it. Put a brickette in a baggie and hit it with a hammer to break it up a little. It,s nice to have a bag prepared with your medical supplies!

You just take a piece and rub it on the bite, it should look like a target with two fang holes in the bite. That,s the first look. Keep on for two hours then wash off with soapy water and put calamine lotion on it for two hours. Calamine is made from chalk and it is a drawer.

Keep rotating the charcoal and calamine all day long every two hours. Next, I hope that you keep an aloe plant in your flower garden! You cut a medium to large leaf and cut the thorns off and peel one side of a three- inch leaf piece. You are now going to be using just the aloe as it is a healer plant. Just keep this on the bathroom sink and every time you go in there rub some more of this gel on the bite, When this dries out, just cut a new piece and keep using for about three days and nights. It is nice to have an aloe plant for many things.

All of these healing items are harmless and should not hurt you or even children. Again. I am not a Dr. but I have read and studied these things my entire life as they are interesting to know what the older generations used when they could not get to a Dr.

I think we may have come full circle about getting to the Drs. now as this world is almost shut down. Lov and Hugs from me to you as always! Please take the time to share my website with your friends, as this is the reason for the blog, to help people.

Vanilla Butternut Cake

Check back later for a surprise recipe. Ok it’s here now! This one is called Vanilla Butter Nut Cake. I t is an old recipe from way back. When you smell this one baking in the oven’ it will drive you wild and it’s that good so it does not need any kind of topping or frosting.

This one stands on its on and takes all the compliments to itself!

Forty years ago my Mother-in-law made this special cake for her Son as it was his absolute favorite. He is gone now but Dear Sweet Alice is still around and I know she is still cooking up some wonderful meals as she did way back when!

Now all of you know that I love to put the photo up on my blog for you to see the results but I just can’t be eating everything I cook up so you will have to take my word on this one! It will be worth it!

Ingredients are:A bottle of Imatation Vanilla Butter and Nut Flavoring

(I find this at Save-A-Lot) and have seen it at other Grocers.

1/2 cup of shortening (Crisco). 2 sticks butter (Cream this toghether with a mixer).

3 cups of sugar with 1/4 tsp. of salt (Add this to mixer).

6 eggs (Add one at a time).

3 cups of self-rising flour (add to this) 1 cup of milk and two Tablespoons of flavoring from the bottle.

Add all this gradually into the mixer bowl. Heat oven to 325 degrees and ( grease very well) and flour a tube pan (like the fruit cake pans). Pour into prepared pan and slowly bake for 70 minutes ( 1 hour and 10 minutes). Let sit and cool down at least 25 minutes before you remove from pan.

Again this cake stands on it’s own, it is that good! Needs nothing else with it. I hope you will try this awesome cake as it it a fabulous recipe to have and to cherish! Love and Hugs from me to you!

Sausage Meatballs

Cooked and ready for the freezer.
And some sausage patties also ready for the freezer.

I don’t know about how you feel about fast and ready meals right out of of the freezer and quick to the table. But in these hot Summer days, I am all for it! So if I prep one thing in the oven, why not do two.

I prefer sausage that is not loaded down with spices as I do not care for heartburn to awefull much. So I like to buy mine at Save A Lot Grocery store, where the prepare it so that you can see through the package and it is ready to patty it out and cook.I do not get heartburn from their brand.

Now the ones that are in round patties did come from Walmart as that was the store that I got a ride to earlier than my ride to Save A Lot a few days later. These are for my sausage and egg and cheese mac-muffins alacarta Connie,s MacDonald,s look alikes. Except I,m sorry, these taste better!

Now as for the round meat balls all I did was to use a small icecream scoop and make sausage balls to put on a tin-foil lined tray (to dispose) of the grease later for easy pan clean up. And I just sprinkled my favorite spice on them, which is Accent.Bake thes at 350 degrees for 55 minutes.

There are many ways to use these as a sausage sub or as sausage on a pizza or as I did with a little recipe I created yesterday also, after I did these up. I happened to be in a cooking mood as I also made that wild berry cobbler also at the same time, so why not create another recipe!

I will post that in a few days time,so keep checking back if you will! I love to see that you have come back to my blog site. Love and Hugs from me to you. https://www.wisdomforpennies.com

Baked Eggs

I really like this recipe that I found on the internet while searching how to store an abundance of eggs.

All you have to do is grease your muffin\cupcake pans and crack in the eggs. And then add in some seasonings. I use accent with pink himalayain salt and some black pepper.

Then I store these in a freezer ziplock bag after baking them for 14 minutes and cooling them off. If you want yours with the yolks done more, just increase your baking time to up to 17 mimutes or less at 350 degree temperature.

This is easy makings for my Connie,s sausage-egg and cheese mac-muffins (just like someone else’s) that we all know about. I do let these come to room temperature and very slightly microwave as I like my yolks to be slightly under done but still cooked safe to eat(meaning the white is completely) cooked.

I do hope that you will try this! Love and hugs from me to you!

Irish Cream Coffee Mate

Yesterday I put this together as I have been meaning to do for a while. And it is awesome to me. I will no longer be buying this at the grocery store anymore!

The Ingredients are:

One can of evaporated milk

Two cans of sweetened condensed milk

Four big shots glasses of Tennessee Whiskey.

Imagine that! It’s as good as it sounds!

Use a large bowl and pour all three cans of milk in it.

Whisk together well.

Add your four whiskey shots to this and whisk together well again.

Next step is to pour this into an empty 32 oz container. Your last bought empty jug of creamer will work just fine! There may be about four Tablespoons that will not fit into the container!

I found this idea at a youtube channel that I adore. This man is so funny and He is Inteligent also. I really enjoy his channel! You need to check him out! http://youtube.com/user/DoingItCheap

July 2020 Laundry Detergent

Fresh Batch

I ran out of my laundry soap that I make up from Borax and Arm and Hammer and a bar of Zote soap. So today I had to make up some more of this sweet smelling stuff. It made a large coffee mate container size that was filled up and this was the over-flow so I thought that I would share this with you.

I only use two Tablespoons of this and a quarter cap full of a clothing scent as I have allergies so badly. But these I can tolerate well and I love the fresh smell of my laundry when it is fininhed. I use these small amounts in a huge front end loader washing machine that is packed full of clothes.

You can find the instructions to make this if you go back in my posts to the laundry post. I hope you will try this and share this post with all your friends. Hugs and love from me to you.

Skin Tag Laser

This is a laser burner.

If you want to save yourself some money, you could research this laser pen on Google to learn about it. And then you can purchase form Ebay or Amazon.

I am not feeling up to par so today will be short.

I use this to burn off skin tags and to use on warts also. You do need to hit the direct spot to burn and not the surrounding skin. Please do not use it near your eyes! I use this on a few at a time as the healing back up is extremely itchy and it makes me want to drag my fingernails across and scratch like crazy. So do not do but a few spots at a time.

Then I wait three days and do it again if needed. I am not a Dr. but I could

not afford to give my bank card over to the Dr,s office so that they could collect from me if Medicare did not pay them fast enough so I learned to do my own.

I am skin tag free because of this little tool! If you get one and have questions about how to assemble it, you can email me at connieb@wisdomforpennies.com
